Over the past few months I have changed the MAF and map sensors, fuel pump, fuel filter and put in an ecu with a big remap.
As of Wednesday night, I was comfortably doing 80-85 mph. It has been working flawlessly like this since December with no problems.
I took the Defender to a mechanic to have it inspected for a potential sale.
On the was there I was travelling comfortably in the 80mph range (acelerator depressed 3/4 of the way).
The mechanic drove it for about 10 minutes with me in the truck and he let the rpms get very high before switching gears. I explained that the way the remap was done, he should get it into a higher gear if he wanted to be above 40 mph. He was also missing gears.
Since he drove it, I cannot get the truck above 70mph, even if flooring it. The actual speed on a gps is 66mph.
I sprayed the turbo wastegate with wd40 and got it moving a bit better, but that did not fix it.
I tried driving with the maf both plugged in and unplugged, it makes no difference.
Is there some type of fault that could have been caused by his letting the rpms get so high? I am currently letting it sit with the battery unplugged. if there is some type of mode the truck goes into for its own protection I'm hoping that will reset it.
Is there something else I should look for? I'm hoping he did not do additional damage.
It drives the same through fifth gear at 65, then it starts to top out. The pump is brand new and genuine.
Thanks in advance.
