Hello all,

Hoping someone may have some experience to help me.

I have a td5 130 defender dual cab with a broken chassis - break is just behind the rear cab mount crossmember. It is a clean break - no rust or corrosion and is a result of heavy loads on rough roads. My query is what grade of MIG welding wire and gas is compatible with the steel in the chassis? And what grade of steel is suitable for repair fishplates?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Co2/Ar, standard m/steel mig wire and m/steel fishplates 2mm thickness.

And a decent 160 amp mig minimum, weld up the cracked chassis then weld on the fishplates and someone who CAN WELD,,,,,,,,,,,,,,no pigeon **** welding....
