Hi,

I know there have been a few threads on this but can someone please recommend where I can buy a decat pipe and centre box for my 03 Disco TD5. There seems to be a few suppliers on ebay and such like, just want to buy the right one.
Thanks,

James

If your not shaw about buying the right pipe off of flea bay , then best go for someone like paddock spares . They sell them in mild steel and stainless , just go on there site and search decat , or ring them .:)

What is the current MOT rules on this?

I am thinking of a decat with pretend cat.

Diesel particulate filter check now required as part of MOT test.

Tests for diesel cars and lorries are to be tightened up to ensure vehicles have a critical exhaust filter if one had originally been fitted as standard, Roads Minister Robert Goodwill has announced.

Garages and testing stations will be required check for a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in the inspection of the exhaust system as part of the MOT test (or annual test for heavy vehicles) from February 2014.

The vehicle will automatically fail the MOT test if the filter had been fitted as standard but is found to be no longer present.

So I guess it depends on how well you get on with your mot people :D

If you don't know whether your D2 has had a DPF then ask your local LR dealership to provide you with a printout of the specifications of your particular vehicle when it left the factory. All they need is the VIN number. If your vehicle did have a cat (unsure if TD5 had a DPF) then the MOT place will look for a cat dangling under there. Thus having something that looks identical to a cat should work; after all the TD5 is a clean burner!

I just fitted a Paddock de-cat. Well recomended. Front cross member was a sod to get off though. Soaked bolts in plus gas for over a week and they still all rounded off with a snap-on hexagon socket. Had to resort to the "hot spanner".

Some prize plonker at LR decided that 10mm heads on M8 threads instead of the usual 13 or 12 was some sort of good idea.

Otherwise easy enough to fit. Will be deleting the centre box next month.

It has a cat not a DPF

Hence thinking of dummy one

i am also thinking of a dummy one, but the chap round the back who lends me his ramps reckons he knows an MOT tester who is "One Of Us" and will not notice a missing cat if the emissions are OK.

I thought the rules only applied to diesels with a DPF? No D2 ever had a DPF, the 15P ones had a cat but not a DPF...
