hi all
i have done the temp gauge mod on this
i can trace the blue/green wire to the grey multiplug
but cannot find it in the engine bay loom
using complete wire harness
i think i found it down at the ecu plug
under the seat it shows power there

does it cange couler at the engine end and use the pink/blac/or pink/green temp sender wires ????

regards
mike

i used the complete td5 dash wire harness engine and chassis harnesses
i have only done the MOD FOR TEMP ONLY
for 200 tdi

the problem i think i have is the dash GREY MULTI PLUG where the green/blue temp wire
goes and comes out the other end is live and i cannot find it in the loom going to engine
the temp wires at engine side temp sender are pink/black and pink/grreen origanal ??? from td5 loom

i think i have traced the blue green wire at the multiplug where the ecu used to be under the
drivers front seat td5

hope this makes better sense

You will also notice in the link i posted that you will need to use a 300tdi temp sender in an adaptor - so that the temp gauge works correctly ;)

cheers daz
yes the sender is already ordered

the prob i am having you might be able to see this better than most
as i said i am using complete dash engine and chassis wiring looms
i have done the mod for temp gauge
but cannot find this blue/green wire for temp gauge in loom
to engine i have cut out shrink wrapped what i doont need engine side
i did however traced the blue green to
where the ecu used to be on the multiplug under drivers seat
SHOULD IT PRODUCE LIVE FEED
i left the origanl pink/blck and pink/green temp sensor wires at engine end till
i found out which 1 i use

If you read through the link - you will see that the TD5 temp gauge gets its info from the ECU - so you have to rewire part of the loom even if you use the right sender.

ALL the info is in the link

yes i have done the mod at the loom temp gauge
sender was ordered monday
what i cant find is the blue green in the loom
bear in mind i am probily doing it the easy way using all td5 looms ect
the blue green at where the ecu used to sit do i just take a wire from there to the sender i have aready done the mod up at dash end
mike

The info in the link uses the TD5 dash loom and modifies it to join the 200tdi loom - so if you are using a TD5 engine loom instead of the 200tdi engine loom - i don't know??

The haynes manual shows the temp sender wire as green/blue for all engines upto 1996.
for TD5 engines there are 2 wires for the sender 1 is pink/black other is pink/green that both connect to the ecu - to provide temp info to the gauge.

Just had a thought about the sender end of things............ normally the temp sender (200tdi/300tdi) only has 1 wire as it is earthed through the engine block and indicates temp through resistance - being a thermistor :)

Looks like the TD5 sender might use the pink/black wire as the sender earth - so to answer your question............ i would use the pink/green wire as the temp sender wire!

Another thought............ if you do get 12v and 0v turn off the ignition touch both wires together and then switch on the ignition - you should get full scale deflection on the temp gauge (hot)!!

Let us know how you get on ;)

hi daz

blue green at ecu is the temp joined the pink green to it

cheers

is the temp heat now sorted connects to ive used pink/green
from the other side of the ecu black plug which runs to temp sensor

so if anyone knows just post here

I am attempting the same thing but I am still at the stage of a couple of wires to start the engine.

Did you just send power to the dash fuse box and if so did everything work?
What did you do with the Underseal fuse box?
How long did it take?
