i've got a problem with a 2001 TD5 Disco, every now and then it's cutting out as i slow down/stop, it's steadily been getting worse/more frequent and it's now starting to get harder to start after having cut out and i'm having to crank the engine longer and pump the accellerator pedal... any assistance/suggestions gratefully received

could be many things, first would be good to read fault codes and if there aren't any most probably it's a fuel supply issue, pump on it's way out or injector washers/seals... but these are only the most common amongst many possibilities... any oil in the ECM red plug?, if yes replace the injector loom and do the washers/seals too, replace the air bleed valve(WJN500110) in the rear wheel side connection of the filter head to rule it out too.

The garage where I get my MOTs done used to run a Td5 that has similar symptoms. They found the injector seals had gone.

imo you should replace the injector loom too with genuine if you are already there and you know it's old

Aye - for the money, it'd be a shame not to replace the loom seeing as you'd have to disconnect it anyway.
