My TD5 seems to be losing coolant. I topped it up about 3 days ago and it has dropped. I know this is a sign of HGF but so far I haven't seen any other symptoms.

- Oil cap is clean
- Temp gauge is fine
- No white smoke
- Cabin heating works fine

I haven't spotted any obvious leaks either but on the other hand, I haven't had much chance to look closely because it's always dark when I'm not at work.

Any ideas?

check your rad , couldn't find where mine was leaking cooling juice for ages , turned out to be a tiny leak at one of the corners on the rad

Suggest you check the water pump 'P' gasket on the nearside of the engine bay and the rad (particularly at the bottom). Both of those have caused coolant leaks on my disco in the past.

IMO it's a small investment for what it does and this will certainly reveal the leak, even if it's small, and it works better when it's dark
