Hi guys . This probably has been covered a million times o_O but I've had to opportunity to buy a galv chassis for my 300tdi 90 . But the only snag it's for a TD5.

How much work would it take to get my 300 running gear and body to fit on it ?
I can weld and fabricate but I just wanted an idea what it entails .

Any help would be muchly appreciated

You can't weld galavised steel, you have to grind all the galv/zinc off where you are welding - it kinda defeats the object IMHO

If it is just engine mounts it is not a great problem, yes you have to grind away the galv where you need the mounts to go. I have done plenty of welding on galvanized things and you have to be careful about breathing gasses from any left over zinc. Afterwards some cold galv painted on will keep it good a long time.

Engine Mounts

Tank Mount (rear instead of side)

Crossmember is slightly different (PTO aperture)

You’ll need a different fuel pickup for the new tank as the 300tdi version won’t go…
