My mate is after a new bulkhead for his early 90 and he said that a good upgrade is a td5 bulkhead
Has anybody heard of his and if so why is it I'm assuming it's purely to do with it's newer and less rust?

There no difference apart from the wiper holes are a different shape.

a lot were bought a few years back as new td5 bulkhead was a cheap option ,thess than £200 but cant remember exact price but was drastically lower than tdi bulkheads, they fit easy and only need a few minor adjustments like rivnuts etc ,they allways seemed lighter metal to me so would think only uprade was because it was new

Apart from the wiper motor mounting plate and position, wiring loom passage holes, lack of fuel filter rivnuts, the tunnel shape (depending on the year of the old vehicle of course), permanently welded in vent meshes, etc. etc.

But yeah, other than those points and a load of other little things they will fit. A lot of that (wiper stuff mainly) only applies to later (2002-onwards) Td5 bulkheads. 1999-2001 Td5 bulkheads are much more similar to pre-Td5 units.
