Ok so my td5 disco was having a few issues an I've put on a new fpr and put in new seals and copper washers now it runs beautifully BUT, after being left more than an hour or so it starts then immediately cuts out and won't start until it's been turned over with the throttle to the floor for 10 seconds or more. When it does start it takes about 5 seconds to come on all cylinders correctly! Any ideas welcome, oh and the pipes to the tank sender have been done recently under landrovers recall FOC. and no it hasn't got more than one seal in the fuel filter !

No signs of fuel leakage, no fuel in the oil, runs perfectly once going, even when it fires first time from cold it runs perfect for about 3-4 seconds then stops, I'm wondering if it's the fpr I fitted, was genuine part from main steeler but I didn't have any problems until it nearly ran out of fuel, that's when it started running crap and having to be primed every start up! I've had the pump out and cleaned the very little crap off the bottom of the housing! Anyone in lincs got a pressure gauge we can screw into fpr to check pressure?

i had a similar problem it turned out to be a injector sticking and sending air into the fuel system

Thanks squizzel, that's a possibility I think as when you leave the pump to prime, when it stops you can hear the fuel emptying back into the tank ( at least you can when you put you ear to the boot floor). I've had the little filter thing out of the rear outer pipe on the filter head and I cut the filter bit off the end and replaced the other bit. This wjn etc bit your on about, which pipe is it in?

The non return valve is item number 10 in the diagram part number vub503950, and wjn500110 is number 11 which i think comes as a kit with the non return valve in it.
Hope this helps
Mark

Thanks mark, I'll check that non return valve next as I'm thinking that must be the problem as I've just driven it 200 miles today and it's gone great but after being left more than a couple of hours it needs re-priming then starts and runs fine.

Is this the correct position of the none return valve as sure mine was in the connection shown in the pic with nothing in it (front left)
