Just had to use the kick down to overtake and it did'nt seem to work, it did accelerate but was jumping between 3rd and 4th. Anyone had similar and if so is it a fix I can do or is a garage job. It's a 03 Td5 and has been on a few long runs recently so it's not clogged up.
Thanks
Ian.

Hi Sparky,

I'm no expert but had similar performance issues with my TD5(75K Miles). I changed the auto box oil and it felt like a new motor.

its the air flow meter thats causing it, have seen this before, it feels like its constantly changing up and down

Just check and see if on your dash display where the millage is ,does it show D when in drive and R for reverse etc if not then the bcu will need resetting on diagnostic pc.Because it will think it is a manual gearbox not auto, had same prob on mine after had fault codes reset.

I know it's a different motor, but I had the same problem with my auto Passat diesel and that was caused by the 'air mass sensor' also (to use VW terminology). It was also very smokey on hard acceleration and sluggish (I'm looking for another Disco which is why I was looking at the threads) so I think the earlier reply may be correct.
