The starter is spinning fast, thiers plenty of fuel, I've disconnected one of the fuel pipes and turned the engine and the fuel flows nicely. Has anyone got any ideas...The maf sensor has been disconnected for a while as thats faulty but i know the car runs ok without it although smokey. Reconnected it anyway and it had a breather kit last year, what should i try now. Cheers. Oh, Its been taking longer to start for a few weeks now until this morning when it stopped altogether.

Probably the cam or crank position sensor is not functioning

or

Check the connector from the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail, the tend to corrode a little bit and give bad contact with starting issues

Can you discribe the fuel pressure sensor, sorry im not gemmed up to well on these things

i assume its a td4, if so would put my money on a leaking injector.
Spray some easy start into the inlet manifold if it starts and runs fine but once you switch off it will not start (do a leek off test, search on here on how to do it) then looks like an injector.

It's on the end of the fuel rail, behind (and above)the EGR valve as you look from the front. Has 3 wires going to it.

also try what booboodag said

Sorry to be a pain, I will try some easy start in the mornin, just one thing tho, could it be the glow plugs, if so, how do i get to them ? I happen to have a new set already, thanks

also check for corrosion on the inside of the pressure regulator, you have to take it off the fuel rail though, i have seen sorrosion on the inside before and has stopped td4's from starting. best to put it on a computer aswell

Thanks for that, I unplugged it earlier, a chuff of dust came out when I pulled it out but the plug looked ok. Couldnt see inside the pressure sensor its self but im going to try to get it off in the morning and clean it up if needs be. I hope thats the problem as i cant really afford the main stealer to sort it. Thankyou.

Thanks to all you guys. Sprayed some easy start in the air intake and she fired up. Am i correct in saying it is deffo an injector leak or is thier another possibility and if it is an injector leak is it something an intermediate like me can do or should i book it in somewhere. Cheers

Update. Easy start got it going, but I also gave the fuel rail pressure sensor contacts a scrape and its starting fine every time without easy start for now at least. My local garage kindly plugged it in to their diagnostics and gave me P1190 (pressure control) P0190 (pressure sensor) and P1470 (boost control) as well as maf faults but thats unplugged anywa, but no injector faults came up. Given the fuel rail faults and the fact it starts now I fiddled down their can i assume their is no leaky injector and just replace the fuel rail sensor ? Ta

Now start running it regularly with good quality injector cleaner to keep those pricey injectors in as good a nick as possible.
