Hi guys,

Can the TD4 easily achieve 100mph? I plan on going on a long trip in the summer, so it would be handy if I could do that sorta speed at times.

Cheers

Rich

Choices for easily crusing at 100 mph in a 4x4

Range Rover Sport 5.0 140 Mph and 0-60: 5.9 seconds
VW Touareg R50 5 146 Mph and 0-60: 6.5 seconds
AUDI Q7 6.0 V12 155 Mph and 0-60: 5.5 seconds
BMW X5M (M driver pack) 171 Mph and 0-60: 4.7 seconds
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 174 Mph and 0-60: 4.7 seconds

In short, no.
Maybe if you find an Autobahn in Germany and want to see how fast it goes in clear weather with little traffic, otherwise it would not be advisable to drive a sizeable vehicle at is maximum speed
as you'll struggle to stop and get easily out braked by cars and possibly cause an accident hurting yourself and/or others, or worse.

Freelander MK1 Td4 5dr ES 1998 - 2003

Manual 102 Mph, 0-60: 12.8 seconds
Auto 100 Mph, 0-60: 13.8 seconds

Freelander MK1 TD4 5dr Sport 2003 - 2006

Manual 103 Mph, 0-60: 13.2 seconds
Auto 100 Mph, 0-60: 14.3 seconds

UKCAR Land Rover Freelander TD4 ES Review

102mph

Perhaps because I don't want to be ass raped by some ****er in a BMW when I drive on the autobahns through Germany?

where ya off to ?
Austria or perhaps maybe as far as northern Italy. Something I've wanted to do for a few years, so hopefully I will do it this year!

I've seen that, but I've also heard that they can be inaccurate, because reviews/tests are usually carried out on new cars. Was hoping to get some feedback from people who live with the thing!

what's the point of traveling to such nice places, and then blasting through them at a speed that'll make it near impossible to see anything

might as well just blast up and down the M1 for a fortnight in July

I'm sure we will see some of the sights in Germany, the autobahn being one of them. :p

Should have bought a petrol freelander :D

1.8k top speed is said to be 106mph

0-60 is said to be 11.8 seconds

Although i've had mine to 115mph and timed my 0-60 a while back at 9 seconds.

Doesn't really help but for all the people who say TD4's are faster than the petrol.

In my experience a Td4 manual will get to 100mph but not cruise comfortably, and Auto will be struggling, but might just touch it. My auto cruises at 90 quite happily though.

Possibly the main sight you see in Germany will be the inside of a garage. Take plenty of cash, repairs are expensive there. 85/90 is quick enough for continuous running of a TD4 unless you want to bust it.

A chipped one might manage it but as they aint designed for that kind of sustained speed I wouldn't want to test it. Maybe you need to look at one of them BMWs that you're so frightened of.
