Hi guys,
I am getting loads of blue smoke now. At least on idle, and it seems to be more when cold outside.
Nothing on tester, no error. New MAF, New MAP, recon Turbo.
Checked/replaced all vacuum and intercooler hoses. EGR valve and solenoid checked, works fine.

Is there anything else from injector(s) (I have 4x on order) that can cause this?

Thanks,
Paul

Is this the one? Thanks
That one is new, oem.

Yes. But try checking for blue smoke with it removed (idling or just over idle). Doing so will eliminate the turbo and crankcase breather from the circuit. If it's still blowing blue smoke, then it's going to be down to an engine issue, like the valve guide seals, or piston rings.

I will have a look. Seems like is not smoking on load... No chance of this being from injectors? as I can still cancel the order of those if there is a bigger issue requiring engine replacement or car scrapping.

Blue smoke is from oil in the intake charge. It's unlikely to be injectors, but stranger things have happened.

However oil normally enters the intake system from the breather or turbo. Removing the elbow pipe will eliminate that as a cause. If it's only under power, then it could be oil built in the inter cooler, which needs cleaning.

Thank you, I will remove it in the morning and start it that way.
Turbo did start a high pitch whistle lately, I hope that's it (warranty)

Mine did same I replaced everything and had injectors recon'd eventually a small additive in the oil to soften the valve stem oil seals cured it worth a try for just a couple of £££££s.

The valve stem seals I imagine. Normally worn stem seals show up when starting, after it's been sat for a while.

However they can split, which would cause blue smoke.

I am still waiting for my new halfords tool kit so I can remove the elbow pipe before, mine has been "borrowed".
There is indeed some oil additive that supposed to cure the valve tapping but this is not the case.
I am also considering putting 10w40 semi synthetic instead of the 5w40 fully one that's in, little bit thicker oil might or might not find it's same way through valves or piston rings.
Seems like there is zero smoke on acceleration. Only on very cold start in the morning, such as this was 2 degrees. New bosch glow plugs were fitted a few weeks ago.

Well, nevermind. I will be selling it and getting a 1.8 petrol which I've found that runs and drives.
I'll do the oil change and all. Tay Tay td4.
Thanks for the help, there will be new threads with k series for sure.

To be honest. If it's only smoking when first started, then I'd ignore it. It could be loads of things, but mostly down to general wear of the engine.

Funny, I'm doing the same swap myself. If I can sell the TD4 that is.

Always wanted to do that, considering td4 was a mistake as it's a diesel and I don't like it.
Finding a k series not being raped was the challenge, regardless of the cost.

Shame that, Paul.
Sad to see you giving up on TD4. You've done so much in a short time. Best of luck with yer K Series.

Well I've had both and I prefer the K series, although more seriously problematic it's easier to work on and I don't care about mpg.
This is too complex and spending so much money and work and driving a tractor in the end is now rewarding for me.
The smoke issue was very little this morning, so I guess it's not worth really fixing it.

So, out of the frying pan and into the fire, then? But like you say, easier to work on. Plus the K Series is a true Rover unlike the TD4 mutant.
"Tractor" is a bit harsh, though :D

Sale/buy did not go through with the 1.8. Car was okish, owner was not.
I am now giving up the K saga, hence will be stuck with this diesel for a while.
Today it did not smoke at all, making this fault intermittent...
