Hi ,looking at a Td4 to buy but has a starting issue ,he says it won't start without the aid of easy start , could it be an easyfix ?

HPFP failure, or electrical fault. There's loads of threads about poor starting and warm start issues.
It could be as simple as a cam position sensor, it could be as bad as a new ECU plus wiring and programming.

Hi
My Freelander has now been to 3 garages and still no closer to finding the issue, so can anyone help? It's had a new battery, all the filters changed and oil, new injectors, the Low pressure and High pressure pumps working fine both have been cleaned out and it starts fine, but you get 1/2 mile down the road and the engine cuts out and all the electronics then it starts again 1/2 mile down the road and the same thing happens????

Hi Dean, welcome.

1) Try starting a thread yourself in the Freelander section :) otherwise you question here will get lost.
2) There is a search function, have a gander through that.
3) LZ is a community of lively, lovely and loquacious Landy owners, you may want to just introduce yourself in the introductions section.

If the owner hadn't been using easy start, I think the most likely "expensive bit" would be the injectors - but if it runs OK once started, they're likely to be OK (famous last words!) or just need some diesel additive to the tank to give them a clean. There are though a lot of less expensive bits that could be wrong and if its the last bit you buy, they'll have added up :)

I agree with Nodge, the O ring looks to be the root of an awful lot of TD4 problems! Especially starting issues.

From what people say though, if the owner has been using easy start for any length of time, then it may have damaged the engine's internals and you're then realistically up for a replacement engine.

Plus it looks like you'd need a MAF.

Right ,it seems that the diagnosis has come up with low fuel pressure but once started pressure is normal , a new pump maybe ?
