Hi all,
New to this forum and after some help/advice please…I have a 2004 Freelander 1 Td4 that will only start when I spray some engine start into the air intake. I have changed fuel filter as was told this could be the cause but has not solved the issue, has anyone had anything similar happen and a solution that I could try please?

Thanks in advance

Must be the most common complaint on this forum. Use the search function, read everything and you'll find at least 3 or 4 possible issues.

Thanks for the advice, I can definitely hear the fuel pump start up when I try to turn the engine over, I shall check the rest over the next few days!

Thanks

Hi Yodaman…
Yeah it’s does sound a bit rougher for a few seconds, do you know what would that could indicate?

Thanks for your help in advance?

I have had the same issue. It was a single fuel injector . .
I know everyone says change them all if their is a fault but I changed just 1 and its been perfect for over 20000 miles.
The ideal check is removal and inspection. From cold forget leak off tests.
A failed one will be wet at the end.
1 injector leaking removes the common pressure from the rest.
A start with easy start fires the engine up without diesel
Then the pressure then builds up in the injection system so it missfires until that point when the pressure is back up.
Should it be this its easy fix
Rover 75 cdi fuel injectors fit . I keep a spare in the boot. Hope it helps

I had the same problem, would not start without easy start, once running it was fine, just a bit noisy at first due to the easy start. Mine was poor injectors, I got a second hand set from a rover 75 at the breakers. All ok now
