Panic Over

I'm probably misunderstanding it all but, is it right that my TD4 Auto, registered 30th March 2001 is going to cost £520 to tax. Whereas someone with exactly the same model, registered a month before will be £245?

No Fair :(

Would that mean a BMW with the same engine & 'box cost the same

That was until the 30th March 2017, they moved the classification to an L from today, no wonder it's April fool's day, we're the fools for letting them do that.
Although it would seem that it should fall into the K category because of the Asterisk.

Not sure what today has to do with it. The Tax changes from today are only for new cars. I think you will find it has always been an L.

Cheers

Ouch I have just checked mine. Currently I have paided my road tax for six months in February but when the new one comes in I will still be hit on the next one. TD4 GS 2002 late.

Just went through this and my 2002 GS TD4 registered 03/04/02 comes out at £305 annually, not much different to what it is now.

Came out as tax band K.

MIne shows on the .gov website as Tax band M, but the asterisk takes care of it.....Not sure why people get confused by it TBH.

Cheers

:D you've not been inside my head.

You are all getting confused, if your vehicle is registered before March 2006 then it is only £295 for the year. I've just taxed my 02 90 TD5 as from today and only paid £295!

I do not think I am getting confused at all, and as it is now £305 for my D2.

Cheers

My apologies, I was correct, now I am wrong, they seem to have increased the duty since I paid mine, thankfully I paid on Thursday, if I paid from today, I too would have had to pay £305!

Again, please forgive my numbness, is it the same for automatics. You see I saw a table somewhere that differentiated between the two.

Panic Over, you must be doing something wrong, this is what you should see!
