Hi All and I hope you're doing fine.
I have, for my sins, a 2003 TD4 BMW 2.0 diesel Freelander which has developed a bit of an issue that I can't get resolved. When I bought the car it had a leak from the High Pressure pump in the engine bay. I fully refurbished this and reinstalled. All was fine for a few days and then there came an issue once up to temperature under load the car would reduce power and the EML would come on. No smoke or anything. All would disappear on a restart until put under load again. A full diagnostics reported low fuel pressure, MAF sensor and fuel rail sensor. The general thinking that the refurbished HP pump put stress on a weak low pressure pump under the wheel arch. So, I replaced the fuel pump (under wheel arch) fuel filter, MAF sensor, fuel rail sensor, cleaned the inlet manifold of carbon and replaced the MAP sensor all still to no avail ! The car appears to drive ok until up to temperature and then once again under load the fault kicks in. The only thing I can think of is a turbo boost solenoid or maybe a hole in one of the vacuum pipes but I can't see anything under first inspection. Any thoughts as to what might be the issue ? Does a boost solenoid show up on a diagnostics does anyone know ?
I also have a metallic 'clunk' on driving forward even a few inches but more noticeable in reverse. Changed the drop links but still not cured ! Thinking maybe an engine mounting ?
Any experience in any of the above appreciated.
All the best
