Hi. Can anyone help!! My freelander td4 2002 has started to miss fire on start up. Sometimes she starts right up then other times takes 1 or 2 goes then starts up, she runs superb once started. Engine perfect plenty of power. had it to sure start in Doncaster they can't find anything wrong. Changed the glow plugs still doing it, It's starting to worry me just wondered if anyone had any advice please??ive owned it for the last 12 years and it's been well looked after and regularly serviced. Many thanks.

The only thing that springs to mind is the crank position sensor, this may be starting to wear out, but not bad enough to throw a fault code.

Don't these types of problem often end up being an injector that's weeping fuel into the cylinder overnight? I might be completely wrong though!

It's a good point. Dodgy injectors do make for a lumpy start up. But will truck along quite happily once going, until it packs up!

I will get shot down in flames by everyone by saying this... but..... for less that 4 quid... put a Redex Diesel Injector Cleaner into 1/2tank of fuel.
I did that with mine, and oh boy.... lumpy start and misfiring when away... I know I have ONE duff injector, but I think I gave it another few miles before it dies completely...
as I said... I may get shot down, but for 4 quid.... what do you have to lose?? (yes, the little bottles say it is good for 60Litres of fuel, but I blasted mine to give it an extra temporary boost)

if it helps... I have a TD4 full motor on my drive looking for a good home... crank and cam sensors still on it.. and It was running when I pulled it out of the car.. (advertised on the parts for sale section)
