Hello All,

just a quick question. I'd like to test some treated engine oil but the manufacturer said
all the oil would need to be changed, therefore I am wondering if it'll all come out if I just wait enough
or if it's something else. Read a threat from years ago and he put the nose up to drain all the oil. Could find something like that in Haynes, though. Would like to do myself as the garage seems to overfill always, at least it's not between the two marks.
For the oil filter it's a 36mm, isn't it? Never done it on a diesel, but should be the same I guess.

If you raise the LH front wheel a couple of inches, then the drain plug ends up at the lowest point, so a vast majority of the oil will come out.
However you'll never get it all out, as there will always be some old oil in the various passages and recesses in the engine.

The reason garages often over fill, is due to them putting in the book oil volume (often a dry volume) but as stated above, some old oil always remains, so the level ends up slightly high. ;)

Viscosity depends where and how you use the car. I'm using fully synthetic 5w-40 for TD4. 5w is for our cold temperatures here in Finland.
