hi all got a td4 on a 02 had to replace the rear exhaust box i had a twin pipe back box on there and when i went to buy a replacement box from my local motor factors all it showed was a single pipe so had to go for that fitted it myself all seems ok but is this right its a single pipe rather than a twin pipe.the box they gave me was more like the one for the freelander l seriesl.

Had a similar experience.
Destroyed the exhaust back box off-road, bought a new one from the dealer that sold me the car - it was 12 months old so I thought it was best to buy genuine. The old one was twin pipe, the new one was single pipe and 2/3rds the size, which turned out to be better all round. The old one used to "kiss" the tow bracket, and was continually being hit off-road. Double checked the part numbers, the smaller box should have been fitted as original on my 2006 TD4 auto.

A smaller back box will be going on mine when I finish off the twin pipe dustbin, might even do away with it all together.

i took my back box off completly. Same thing happended to me, damaged it off road, it was constantly hitting the floor. I now have a stright through pipe, still got the center box but no back box. (side exit out the back bumper) drives exactly the same, its a tiny bit louder but doesn't sound bad, and looks better in my oppinion. theres some pics on here.
