Well if most people on here will not thank me for being technical, which I have never asked for or expected, I'm on the wrong forum.

CYA !!
(At least I can spell correctly)

Thats a shame, all I meant was it needed pointing out that TD4,5 and 6 injectors are not piezo crystal actuated like the TDV6/8 ones.
I run a Land Rover garage, but as an independant and I am not LR trained.

I am sorry sir, I have checked twice now, and the toys are definitely all out of the pram and on the floor.

If you didn't ask for or expect thanks for being technical, then why say that if people don't thank you for being technical, you're on the wrong forum???????????

Totally confused.

Well there certainly weren't any piezo electric crystals in the injector I destroyed when I had to change one earlier this year. It can be seen from the diagram shown in RAVE System and Operation page 19-1-7 that the TD4 injector is operated by a simple solenoid valve.

Please do not be technical. We haven't asked you to be, and you won't get any thanks whether you ask for it or not. You may be on the wrong forum, but Nige Cowie can point this out to you.

Right Nige ?

Well said Opti,
Nige is our (technical) man.
Just not very good technically apparently.

Sorry guys, just about to have a big slice of humble pie for dinner.

Wot a load er bollix [nuffer case of a little knowlege] the jectors are leak orft type [enables a better squirt] the soliniods are low voltage high speed [so self inductance law applys ] hence yer stoopid voltages , the o/p are pertected by diodes to stop back ems. . . .go back to yer tech skool un leave us to fix things wiff r ammers :D :D :D

Snapper,
You are correct only TD5's need coding, TD4's are plug and play impossible to code.
One other point guys, by disconnecting these injectors whilst the vehicle is runnng you can cause a lot of problems ie. damage the injectors or possible the ECM. The injectors contain piezo electric crystals which are energized by the ECM to open and close them at a much faster rate than mechanical ones. This allows the ECM to control the pre and main injection duration periods. On an oscilloscope voltages can be seen in excess of 100 volts, if you unplug the injector while engine is running this voltage has no where to go except back to the ECM.
Just a point I thought you should know, if anyone would like a picture of these let me know.

Had to re qoute it. . . .Porky un Muffin is jest cryin
