Hi All

Bit of a problem with my Td4 engine. Changed the injectors and when replacing the inlet manifold I lost one of the lower orange rubber sleeves that fix into the plastic inlet manifold. I fear its gone down the inlet flue. Had a look with an endoscope and can clearly see the valve head. Its in the open position. This rubber sleeve is about 12mm dia and 14mm long it has thin metal washer attached to the base. I measured this to be about 20thou thick. Any one know how far the valve opens and if will just drop through to the piston crown? If it has will it just burn up. Or is this a head off job with all he associated re timing of the cams etc.

Any comments or gut feeling would be helpful here.

Thanks

Hi Safeman,

The nearest thing I have experienced to your problem is when I forgot to remove the 3 pieces of Blue Roll paper from the inlet manifold. I only remembered about it after seeing it smouldering on the ground.

A bit of a cough a splutter is all it experienced.

If it isn't metallic and as small as you say, I would suggest that the compression will burn it up. What isn't burnt will be chucked out the exhaust.
