hello i have a 2002 td4 freelander and it has developed a fault. when i come to disarm the alrm with the key fobi nothing happens, i unlock the door with the key and the central locking does not work , the alrm does not go off, the car starts and runs but i cannot unlock the doors , the electric windows dont work, the heated seats dont work , but the lights and idicaters do. Has anyone got any ideas what it could be. many thanks

yep i have,, the fault first happened a few weeks ago, i went to in a shoppin car park and was as decribed but then started working, then last weekend it done it again but as soon as i started to look it all started working , but today it had happened and wont work work anymore

It sounds like a main relay not working (part of the CCU IIRC). Most of the things that aren't working would normally stay energised for about a minute after the ignition is switched off, unless a door is opened. So it stands to reason that if that relay fails, those things won't function at all. The locking and remote are a fly in the ointment though, which aren't controlled by the main relay. I'm thinking the CCU could well be at fault, as all the faulty components are controlled by the CCU.

Hello, just to let anyone know in the future, i ordered a second hand ccu off ebay. when it arrived i fitted it and everything was working again, so you can just fit a second hand ccu , no programing required, but the remote central locking does not work the fob needs to be programmed, i took it to my local independant landrover guy who done the fob for me for £10. So all is working again. thank you againg nodge68 for the information

ok may have been abit premature in my celabrations, i went to the freelander this morning and the fault is still there.I have removed and checked both fuse boxes and all connections look clean, i am abit lost now . trying to look through the rave manual but getting alittle overwelmed. Sorry nodge im not quite 50 myself, yet , but closer than i will admit.

I'm only messing with you. ;)Apparently live begins at 50, or was it 40, I can't remember which.
Lets say 50, as that's what my last birthday was.:D

That's a pain. I'm wondering if the ignition switch could be playing up. There are a couple of ignition contacts on it, IIRC. Looks like you need to do some more in depth investigation. :(

i did wunder about switch, i just checked and i have power coming into fuse board but no power on fuses that are`nt workin, could it be a fault in the fuse box circuit board?

Update: after the ccu didnt seem to fix my faults i bought a second hand in car fuse box. fitted it and all has worked fine now for 2 weeks. Hope this will help others in the future
