hi guys, have had my 03 freelander commercial 3 weeks, having said I would never have one, I love it! 109 down the motorway and good round the farm on standard tyres
Question for anyone: in the light of the silly fuel horders running the garages dry has anyone put cooking oil in theirs yet? I wouldn't hesitate on a normal TDI as my mate runs a mixture in his 300 TDI but I'ma bit concerned about the implications seeing as the TD4 is a common rail jobby
anyone know anything about it?

Common rail engines and cooking oil are not a good idea!!!

A good friend of mine works for a Peugeot garage, one of the loan cars, A 206HDi came back from a customers and was running a bit rough,so my mate stripped it down and found all the fuel system varnished!!!! The customer put his hands up and said he had been running it on cooking oil, So end of mistery? Erm no, He had only had the car for 2 days!!!!!!!!

Your TD4 uses the same type of fuel system!!!! NUF SED!!!!!

unless it ****s up the time/space continueum and shunts you forward two and a quarter years.

Why won't common rails run on it? Whats the difference. I mean I know what the difference is but why the difference in ability?

By the way I just drove to Durham parked in Tesco bought 30 litres of their finest, topped up on their car park and left the empties in their trolly, is this legal? The empties I mean. ('L' series)
