Hi there can anyone help me.
1st time user i have a td4 with 98k runs perfect at normal speed get on moterway anything from 70 to 90 mph sometimes wont accelarate for about 20secs at a time then all of a sudden power comes back very annoying been to stealers been on test book said had fault with turbo so replaced boost pressure switch but did not have any affect they dont seem to know what problem is fed up with it now can anyone shed any light thanks.
 
do you have prolonged cranking, just i had one car that done exactly the same as yours ,lost abilaty to accelerate after 70mph leave to decelerate for a second then it would accelerate, it turned out to be the injectors, now they normally fault causing prolonged cranking. hope this helps
 
thanks for that but cranking fine plus injectors been tested they are ok to what i have been told anyway
 
Hi Kenners and welcome, have you changed yer fuel filter recent? if not not worth a try, failing that go through the threads on this part of the forum [loss of power] a lot of info on that subject ,best oh luck. . . :)
 
Thanks ming all filters have just been changed looked up loss of power not just me in same boat there seems to be a few of us with same problem thanks anyway

I had the same thing just a few weeks ago. Turned out to be the air flow meter.

We also had a small hole in the turbo hose which didn't help, but that also caused a loud air sucking noise and lots of oily smoke, so if you've haven't got those you're hoses are probably OK.

Worth checking though, cos the hose is a damn sight cheaper that the air flow meter! :eek:
 
cheers mate did yours lose power at low speed or just at top end like mine also where did you get maf sensor from and what price thanks

Dissconect yer maf to see if it improves if yes then yer maf is kaput and if so go for a pieburgh with a Rover Ron mod like Willo. . .:)

Dont want to p1ss on anyones chips here. (Willo, It is Sooo Much nice)
(Rons box!) but Kenners, just check your maff first As per Mings destructions ( I didnt) and check (Maff with a twist) it may be relevent, but i doubt it! I always get the one off problems

One other thing to try is cleaning the contacts on the fuel pressure sensor. If these are dirty strange intermittent power fluctuations occur.

cheers ron but where is the sensor also i have had a look at your tuning boxes thinking of getting the all in one is this better than buying both separate
 
I've attached a photo, the arrow points to the general area and it's under the intake duct. You can get you hand in from the right, but it would be easier with the duct removed.

One or two 75 owners have found the sensor to need tightening up as well, in once case it was so loose fuel had been spraying out. The pressure is upto 20,000 psi so it could have been a fine hazard as it would have been a fine easily ignited mist.
