Ok, been down to the garage. They got it started with a couple of cranks and moved it into the workshop. ECU error saying there is a problem with the fuel rail pressure sensor - as I suspected.

I've decided to bite the bullet and get them to replace it tomorrow, they can also clear the ECU codes afterwards so we can see if it re-occurs.

They will also leave the battery on charge overnight, apparently their conditioning charger will say if the battery is good or not.

Fingers crossed it will be ok tomorrow!

I will let you know.

just because you have an error code relating to the fuel pressure sensor , it dosent mean its the sensor , its just saying the signal from that sensor to the ecu is not correct, ,again the connectors are a know source of trouble , but as you have changed the harness you should at least have no isues with that ,,
but as you have a synergy unit connected , you have potentialy introduced two extra sources of poor connection ,

good luck keep us informed

Totaly agree, already decide in my head that if I get any further problems I would double chek the new loom, remove the Synergy and run with the MAF disconnected.

Took it for a 30 min run on dual carriageway and back roads and seems ok. Time will tell!

Hi guys,
I am looking for some help with a problem I’m experiencing with my 2005
Freelander TD4.

Owned for 14 Months, about 6 Months ago it started to cut out after being started, then would start and run fine on second attempt. This continued to happen until it was serviced (Done myself using quality parts). For 3 weeks after the service it started and run fine every turn of the key. The last 6 weeks it has continued to cut out, some times as much as 6 times before it stays running. When it cuts out it seems to die slowly as apposed to suddenly stop. Normally starts fine first thing in morning and usually only happens when engine is warm (Or not completely cold) Also at times it idles a little juddery and occasionally there has been a couple second delay when accelerating on motorway.
Spent the day at our local garage on Monday this week and they found nothing wrong, if I had any I would be pulling my hair out now as this problem is driving me mad and have even considered getting rid so any help would greatly appreciated and can give more info if required.

Thanks in advance

phil
again , i would suspect the fuel rail wiring, try gently wiggling the wireing at the plug end while the engine is running
