Hi, I own a 56 td4 and have had no problems in the first 12 months of owning... Until now!
Me and her indoors decided to go on holiday a couple of weeks back and parked the freelander up for a week. All was fine. Came back and went to move the hippo and discovered a flat battery (less than a year old) I thought this was strange as all that I could see that could've possibly drained it was an iPhone charger in the 12v but even still, thought this was unlikely to drain it off that quickly. I fully charged the battery and the car would not start. I got the RAC out to see if they could shed some light on it but after plugging it into his laptop he was none the wiser. The only thing that did give me hope was when he took the intake pipe off and sprayed some magic engine start spray in which fired the engine but swiftly died again soon after. He suspected it may be a problem with the immobiliser as the battery had obviously been drained. I got a tow to a local garage and still no one had any idea. It's since been towed off to another garage for another diagnostics test where it's still not playing ball. Last option now is a trip to the landy dealers to see what's going on which I am trying to avoid for fear of my bank balance taking a rogering. Anyone know what could possibly be the problem? I would be very greatful for some help. Thank you please.
