Wife's 2005 TD4 started clattering on Tuesday. As expected it's the crank pulley. Luckily I bought the proper holding tool last year when doing Son's TD4, getting it off wasn't too bad !!

Now gotta decide which to go for. Anyone got longevity experience on the lower cost brands ?

Pete

Can't find the original item like mine, but there's plenty of similar out there. Mine has a1/2" hole for adding extension bar, but google search doesn't seem to find this type anymore.

1) 30mins with the crank bolt soaked in RP-90
2) The holding tool with a 1/2" Tee bar against the chassis rail.
3) Solid continuous pull on my breaker bar, until I felt the bolt give way. After that it came out easy.

None of the crank snapping starter motor tricks !!

Use a known brand. Corteco is he OE part, but any premium brand will be fine. Not all come with a new bolt, which is a use once bolt.

Got a Dayco one coming via my son (at staff pricing). The system says it's a kit, so should include the bolt as well.

Hopefully should be ready for pickup in Wycombe by midday today.

The Dayco kit comes with the bolt. From memory it was a Corteco in the Dayco box too. It'll be fine anyway.
