Hello all.
Topping up the coolant is becoming more regular. I can't find any leaks but noticed cracking on the top of the top up bowl. Could this be my problem? Any advice welcome. Also the best replacement and if still available. Cheers

Yes change the coolant reservoir, maybe get a new cap as well, also check the Y plastic coolant joint to the head. these can fail either the seal fails of the part it's self goes brittle and leaks.

I have also had a radiator leak, bottom n/s corner, assumed it was the hose connextion but a new rad sorted it out. Had to feel about to confirm the leak as you could not see it,the other possibility is the horrid little 'O' ring on the metal pipe that goes into the thermostat housing, again feel around the area to see if there is any dampness

Thanks to all for your replies.
Very helpful as always on this forum.
I've the day free tomorrow so will give all the suggestions for the cause a look at. But will order a new bowl/ expansion tank as a matter of course.
Artic.. Am I right that the Y piece sit between the starter and the oil filter housing? Is it a major job?

Thanks again all.
Gary.

Hi Gary.
It resides just under the manifold, not an hard job, easier if manifold is removed whole including the manifold should take no longer than 40mins

Hello all.
it goes, checked all the above mentioned. Had to use a mirror to see the Y plastic pipe, but as dry as a bone.
So, awaiting the new Res/fill up thing.
Who would think a few cracks would upset the system .

Thanks for posting your info. Will keep for the for the future. Thanks.
Cheers all.

What a class job!
New coolant tank has arrived as it goes. Thanks for posting.
My coolant woes have now gone further, so a new Thread needed. Don't really want to part with this car.
Thanks.
