Hello all,
Right, this is a strange problem.
I have a 2006 TD4 auto, its done 70k has a full main dealer service history and runs just fine. The only thing that needs doing is the VCU support bearings as am getting a slight rumble so have just ordered some OEM ones. VCU is fine as it will reverse in circles all day with no throttle on full lock. Plan to do gearbox and ird oil change soon, and fit some new pads. Did the PCV filter a couple of months ago.
However, we have come accross a really strange problem where by it cuts out either just after starting or when just about to reverse. It is strange as the ONLY time it ever does it in in the wife's work car park, it NEVER does it anywhere else. Weve just been up to Lancashire / Yorkshire from Devon and it didn't miss a beat or cut out once. We've been testing it for the last few months and cannot make it cut out anywhere else.
After it cuts out it starts again and runs normally just fine. More often than not it does it after starting rather than when reversing. It doesn't happen every day.
The only thing I can think of is that its something to do with the immobiliser, perhaps some kind of interference??
Any ideas?
