Hi all, I've got near to finishing my auto g/box refit & now need help with the inhibitor switch alignment. I've switched the ign on & it's flashing F4 in the display & the red on light is illuminated by P1 on the PRND321 by the selector lever. It was left in park when g/box was removed.
So do I need the LR tool to do realignment or can it be done another way ? Many thanks in advance.

In theory you're supposed to use the LR locking tool. However it is possible to adjust it by trial and error.

I'd start by putting the lever and quadrant switch in park, and make small corrections from there.
You're looking for the dash display to match the gear selector LED. Once they're in alignment, the gear selector plausibility error code can be erased.

Hi all, I've been looking at the FL1 today. I've double checked the pins for any signs of corrosion in the two twist connectors from the g/box (one from the xyz switch & the other from the valve block) & it all looks like new. The only thing I've found that looks a bit suspicious is the red wire coming from the white plug (see pic) on top of the g/box in that it's got that 'broken wire' feel, the insulation although not split looks like it's been squished (must have been done by the place that replaced the reverse band).
Questions :-
1) Can I remove that plug from the top of the g/box to repair it if necessary ?
2) Does anyone know what that red wire is 'responsible' for ?
Just to recap, display in dash shows 1 along with the red light by 1 by the gear selector lever & no matter where you move the gear selector lever PRND123 nothing changes. With the vehicle in P the wheels won't move (which is right) but in N it all turns as it should. If you try to start it the dash display flashes F4.
The place that rebuilt the g/box says it's got to be an electrical issue as nothing inside would give the symptoms I've got.
All the best & many thanks in advance.

Hi all, just a quick update on my FL1 'showing D1 on the dash display & the red light illuminated by 1 next to the selector lever' regardless of where the selector lever was positioned. It turned out to indeed be the XYZ switch. I nearly got one from Billing last weekend but it was £100 I then found one on the popular auction site for £30 this week so took a punt. I fitted it sarfternoon & it now starts, yippee. So after nearly two years from the reverse band breaking I can now get it booked in for mot on Monday. Quite why the XYZ switch should have failed while the g/box was being 'reconditioned' who knows ? I look forward to driving it again before it's donated to my son:).
