Good day would like some information guidance please my 02 TD4 when pulling off sometimes the TC light comes on and I feel a slight vibration for about 2 sec then it goes off a friend suggested it might be the transmission,The vehicle mileage is about 116k and the transmission oil has never been changed,The oil I would like to use or change to Schaeffer’s 0204 SAT ALL-TRANS has anyone used this oil on their transmission and do you think my TC problem has anything to do with my transmission thanks.

sounds more like you have a heavy accelerator foot or your tyres are getting worn. the light and shuddering sound like your t.c. doing what its supposed to do. trying to stop wheel spin.;)
dunno about the oil you want to use though:rolleyes:

Thanks for your response and yes my foot is a little heavy :D but I did change my tires recently but the TC problem was happening before, and it mostly happens when I accelerate off at approximately 3000rpm.

It's not a manual box it's a jatco Steptronic Automatic Transmission thanks.

if you need 3000rpm just to set off then a flashing light and shudder is the least of your problems. the t.c. system is fine. the problem is the driver:D

The correct oil for the Freelander 1 Jatco auto is LR part no STC50531. Also called LR402, or Texaco N402.

As said above 3000 revs it a lot if you use this often. Have you disconnected drive to the rear wheels? I did this recently. The v6 will wheel spin too easily if you do this.

have you been under and checked. quite a few get sold with the prop removed to hide ird problems.

I never removed anything and the problem is actuality between 2000 & 2500 rpm when pulling off or even driving and the gears shift, it does not happen all the time, also do you or anyone else knows of a hand held scanner to actuality work on the TD4 2001 would like to get one Thanks.
