Hi all,
So I've got an 05 freelander and just noticed that as I'm driving I get the amber warning lights for TC and HDC.
It's intermittent and there's no telling when it'll occur and after how long of driving or for how long it will occur. All I do know is when these lights are on I can't select or use the HDC (tested this on the large hill near my house) I can however select and use HDC when these lights aren't on.

I've been off-road last month and used HDC for a good few hours with no issue so I'm fairly sure it's not broken just some sort of electrical or sensor fault.

Any ideas anyone may have? I'm looking to fix this myself than go to the expense of a garage, after some research I've found it could be throttle cable related?

More likely to be the brake light switch - new later level part and harness will cost you about £35 from a LR dealer

I loosened my throttle cable and cured my HDC light being on.

Well I've been and had a look at the brake switch, I'm going to go with that as I have read the switch can cause a weird light arrangement on the dashboard to show the driver it's faulty.
Bought a new one on eBay for a tenner so now it's waiting till Monday or next year for it to turn up, depending on how fast the postal service is moving!
Looking at its position though it's a bit of a contortion to get to it, hold wires out the way, shine a light and remove it ��

Remember to depress brake pedal before fitting it.

You have probably changed your brake light switch by now but I had the same problem. I checked and my brake lights were all in order so I pressed the hdc button to on selected first gear and began to drive. I lifted off of the accelerator pedal and the hdc began to work. Hey presto the hdc and tc lights went out and have not come back on since. Ive checked and the brake lights are working fine as is the hdc . Just a little hint if they come on again.
