I have owned my freelander for about a year and throughout my ownership the tailgate has always been temperamental, it has a habit of just bouncing open, normally after a couple of trys and shutting it slowly it catches and locks

Tonight however it has ceased to lock. Is there any way I can override the locking mechanism so that I can actually secure the vehicle

Long term has anyone any ideas what I need to look out for?..to attempt to fix...

Thanks

Try it when the temperature drops in a while. Seriously. My tailgate window motor is failing and always locks the glass shut when the back of the vehicle is facing the sun when it's hot. Soon as it cools down, it starts working again.

It's a crap and complicated system LR employed on the F/L tailgate that's prone to failing. Maybe it will be OK later, maybe not. Try it!

You could try flicking the CDL switch inside the car a few times to see if that overrides anything. Obviously you'll have to unlock it again, get out of the car and try locking it on the remote. I mean, obviously...:)

Hi, what is the CDL switch ?

I have tried locking with fob but I just get a blip of the horn to signify door still open

I will go and have another try now as its been stood about an hour now

Cheers

My alarm goes off when the rear is facing the sun for an hour or two. The car thinks the rear tail gate is open. I guess I'll have to take the door card off and find the micro switch...
