Need some help I have looked at all the threads and tried the fix's but they dont seem to work. I was carring something a bit to long that was sticking out of my rear window. Now the rear window along with window heater an wiper wont work. I tried disconnecting the battery to reset the CCU but when i reconnect the battery the window doesn't drop :doh:i also tried putting the car into self-test mode using the detailed instruction posted on here, it wont go in. When I try the button to close/open the window it makes a noise as if it is working an then the ccu beeps, anybody have any ideas please, I have a 5 door 05 hse

if it's the three door version, would be checking the microswitch which senses whether the roof is removed or not, as this could disable those items, also worth checking whether the dash is showing the door open symbol as again, if the ecu senses the tailgate is open, it will disable those items.

Its the 5 door version, the open door light isn't lit. The horn did sound when i locked the car to tell me the window was open but i managed to push with window up just enough to stop this. I also tried locking / unlocking the door with the key, the door wont unlock this way and the window wont come down or go up, but all the doors will unlock with the key fob:confused:

Ok so I have opened up the inside of the tail gate and found a few loose pieces :( there is piece of plastic with teeth inside of it and a spring on the outside I think this is to grip the cable that is hanging from the bottom of the motor, but the cable doesn't seem quite long enough to enter the plastic and be grabbed by the teeth  any ideas cant see that the cable had broken and as I cant bring the window down I cant see if this process makes the cable end longer. Also I have an outer cable {like you would get around a push bike brake cable} this is inside a star shaped rubber protector and has a green plastic end on on side really cant work out where this goes to and from:mad: anyone know how these things assemble?

Allan thanks, looking on flea bay last night I realised that the bit of cable that was sticking down should indeed be a lot longer and that my cable is broke  even though I cant seem to see any piece that may have broken off. I repair should hopefully winging its way to me as I type. That link you gave me we come in handy no doubt when the new cable arrives. :) cheers

Just like to say thanks to Allan. I did get the kit of ebay but it seems that the quality of the tensioner ain't that great or perhaps the cable is an inch to long. Anyhow took Allan's advice and introduced a jubilee clip into the mix and hey presto job done. Its been a few weeks now and all is working perfect cheers :5bhurray:
