Hi guys, this question may have been asked before but I'm gonna ask again.
When I bought my 53 plate td4s freelander 3 door hard back the tailgate regulator was broken already, no heated rear screen or rear wash wipe, so I replaced the whole regulator unit, disconnected the battery for reset and nothing.
The window goes up and down in 2" steps from the switch with that annoying beep. When I open the tailgate the glass comes down as it should but doesnt go back when I shut it which indicates to me that the car isnt recognising the tailgate is shut, is there a switch on the body or tailgate that tells the car the door is shut?

I am no expert mate but try this,,

open the rear window completely with the switch on the dash,
get out the car and open the door,
close the door and using the key in the back door lock close the window,

step away from the Freelander and lock it with your fob,
now wait about 10 seconds,
unlock the Freelander with the fob and open the rear door,,

It all should have reset..???

Thanks IndiTd4 I'll give that a try and let you know.
There is a proper reset procedure but if Mavericks one works thats fine , someone will will come and tell you the correct procedure i carnt as i'm in ma space rockit at the moment just about to go round yeranus [fer gems] :)

OK guys Ive tried all the reset trick to no avail.
The tailgate is acting as if there is no message to the car telling it that the door is shut. Could this be a faulty handle/microswitch or locking mechanism?????

If the rear wiper is not working try disabling it by removing the fuse - then the tailgate glass might recalibrate ..it can be affected if the ccu is waiting for the wiper to meet its park position sensor..this sensor could be faulty.

Also

Do you have the dash 'tailgate open' warning light staying on?

Do you get a mis-lock 'beep' when locking?
