Hi Guys, has anyone come up with a modification or decent repair on the tailgate handle on the fl1, I have already tried aralditing new bolts in but they only lasted 2 months before breaking off again

Most people sit in a chair behind a machine gun and open fire at the door handle. Might easier to take the old stuff off and clean the area first. Is the old handle still solid to replace new fittings or to far gone. Alternatively you buy new or obtain a scrap version. There is a chap in freelander section who selling parts at the moment you could send a email.

I've used epoxy to good effect, in fact it's still perfect after 3 years.

Otherwise just buy a new handle, which will outlast the car. Oh and don't pull the door, until the lock had been given 1/2 a second to release. ;)

It should hold OK if done well. Here are two I did that both lasted years, The first used extra strong silicone sealant and the second used cheap pound shop epoxy. Like anything it's the preparation that counts.

glued studs with an expanding type of gorilla glue pretty solid job,now after opening with the handle i always pull the door with the spare wheel as the door is quite heavy with the spare attached to it.
