Hello Yokels.
Just ordered my replacements for the Tailgate and driver door locks. I am pretty confident with doing the tailgate solenoid (actuator) but the drivers door seem a head scratcher.o_O Haynes mentions a removal of the window channel to access the door handle bolt also drilling out rivets for the internal door handle. I have been trying to hunt for some Youtubes clips but can't find much maybe me:oops:
How easy for a novice here or better ask a garage or auto locksmith to do the deed concerning the drivers door?

Think it's straightforward from memory, the rear window guide is either loosened or removed to access the fixings for the lock

When I did a latch on a drivers door I certainly didn't remove any pop rivets etc.

Remove door card and shedder and then you need to disconnect linkages etc and electrical connector and the 3 bolts on the end of the door and wiggle the latch out

Hardest part was lining up the exterior Lock barrel - just make sure everything works as you reassemble to save stripping everything down again

be very careful when removing the latch assy to rotate it slightly to facilitate the disengagement of the drive link from the lock cylinder assy to the latch it has a + shaped drive end , and this can break quite easily , leaving you with having to by a complete barrel assy as they are not available as a separate part .
The pop rivets mentioned hold the inner handle , and its not necessary to disconnect the actuator cable it just means having to rotate the hook end thru the hole , connecting again is easier, and it saves fiddling about trying to do it in the door at the latch end .

Just watch the video:confused: According to the Haynes manual of vague it mention the door handle to be removed. According to the video nothing surely the + part would be almost difficult fit in and out?
