Are they meant to be all the way down or up, or should you be able to stop them half way? Thanks. :)

on my freelander (52) I can stop it anywhere tho it does have a tendency to go down all the way sometimes:)

you should be able to stop it anywhere on the way down, but not on the way up. If you let go of the button part-way up it will open fully again.

If you try stopping it part way up, it will go completely down.

It's a safety feature to prevent someone getting their arm or head trapped.

Cheers for the replies, when lowering and trying to stop half way....it just drops to the bottom. :)

Disconnect battery terminal and re connect after 10 sec. There's a whole calibration procedure around somewhere

Re-calibration is dead easy.

When you re-connect the battery the window, if it is not down already automatically goes down.

So the procedure is:

Use the witch to put the window all the way to the top without pausing (if you do pause it will go down again and must start over by disconnecting the battery)

Then put it all the way down without pausing.

Then all the way to the top again, without pausing. ;)

To return to the original OP's question - after the window has been calibrated you can pause it part way down if you wish.

But ...... you can not pause it part way up.

So at risk of sounding stupid - the window can be half open, but it can't be half closed. LOL.

Cheers mate, Im sure it was calibrated......but the battery was disconected when the high pressure fuel pump was replaced....maybe that threw it out of sync. :)
