I need to spray my chassis with a protective coating. I haven't got a proper compressor but I do have a T-Max tyre compressor (10 bar). Has anyone tried one of these, or similar to power a spray gun? I know you really need a tank for continous spraying but I don't mind doing it in bursts.

Your tire compressor may do 10 bar but that is max pressure doing a tire at a slow rate, it will not be any good with a spray gun the volume required is just not there.

As @brianp38dse says, no. It only takes 3 or 4 cubic feet to inflate the average car tyre from flat, and the ones I've used would take a couple of minutes to get there, so at best 2cfm. You need at least 6 times that. If you had an air tank you could fill that slowly and then get a few minutes spraying, but I have the biggest compressor that will run on single phase 240V (3hp) with a 7 cu ft tank. It has a theoretical output of 12cfm - about the lowest you need for spraying. Theory aside, I can spray for a few minutes and then wait about the same length of time to refill the tank.
