well i turn the ignition on and the relay kicks in after a few seconds and then just turns itself off again almost immediately, the second battery is fairly new and i've checked the wiring so am a bit puzzled now. it was working fine upto a couple of weeks ago and it is only a few month old so has anyone any ideas

Have you got anything on the batteries that draw alot of power. Can't remember which battery I had connected these to but when I had roof lights on it would turn the relay off then when you gave the car more revs so more amps are going to the batteries it would come back on.

thanks it doesn't matter how many revs it still happens. i could check if something is drawing lots of power from main battery when running to see if thats it

checked wiring again. the link light comes on when the relay clicks and then stays on when it disconnects and stays on until i turn ignition off. pressing the manual link does not keep them linked together but the light does stay on if i press it

Would that not be the display/control unit playing up rather than the relay, we fitted one recently and the relay itself is just a basic high current relay, have you tried tinkering with the relay manually to see if it's opening and closing properly?

Only really I say this is because of what you say about the manual button, as with ours it opens the relay and stays open for 30 mins or something.

Happy to put a multimeter across some of the control wires on mine if you want to check things?

thanks i've not has chance to look at it the past couple of days i will try messing with it to see if it stays open but at the moment it opens and closes straight away
