hi

hope I don't get stoned for asking this , lol

sent my synergy away to be updated so that u can use the dashboard switch whilst driving

just got to get a latching oem switch or was also thinking about a carling switch for it

having it set up with power in and Eco out

sorry to ask may I ask what oem switch u used plse or if a carling which one

must also add that ron from diesel tuning has and continues offering first class service

no he didn't pay me to say that , lol , just nice dealing with a company who offers an excellent service and good product

can't wait to get it back on the car and blimey do I notice the difference

thks again and my apologies for asking

Erm... Me again.

I don't have a synergy but ive looked into reusing the standard aircon switches for other uses. It sounds like you need a change over switch so 12v is going into one wire or another depending on switch position?

I know the aircon switch isn't wired this way but if I remember correctly the recirculation is a changeover. I could check tomorrow afternoon once I've woken up.

If you want oem you could use this switch (the rear plugs are quite common on fleabay) so it looks right, take a blank switch cover and replace the circulation cover with that. Then add a legend if that makes sense. I've done a similar thing in preparation of making a "master off" for the FBH.

Hi Gary, I used one of these on my FL1, TD4, Synergy 2a.
BLUE ANGEL EYE PUSH BUTTON SWITCH LATCHING 12V LED SIMILAR TO SAVAGE KIT CAR | eBay

The Indicator ring illuminates when the switch is depressed (Power mode).
I located it into the rectangular blank to the right of the steering wheel cowling, just below the instrument cowling. The blank prises out and you can cut the 16mm hole ok providing you get it dead centre in the blank. The position when fitted is easy to reach and the switch looks just like it grew there !! The indicator ring when lit is a subtle brightness.

cheers mate for the link

im going to be pedantic now, wanted a square one, lol

only reason was i have a few blanks in the car, like u wished for it to blend in as all the other switches are square , or rectangle

have got the 4 x way switching plate on the right hand side of the steering wheel got my spot switch there

room for thought though and will keep the link

thks again mate

have indeed got a few spare switches in a box somewhere ,will have a look at the recirc switch

just thought ref the carling ones they have the legend but will see what I have if not could always go to a breakers

there seemed so many on the carling web site that's why I thought of asking in case what others have done

thks again for the reply

wont rons dash switch work on yours???..it was an optional extra when i bought my box, switch it while driving...just back off the throttle and it changes the mode.

Fault code readers, dash switches

thks buddy

getting my synergy updated so that it can be switched on the move, u had to turn the engine off and back on again

my older dashboard switch was a 3 way toggle one

im getting the lead without their switch fitted as I want to fit an oem one , or one that matches with all the other internal switches so blends in

Guys, on a related theme. I'm probably going to get a Synergy in the next couple of months, with one of his dash switches, what routes are there for running the cable into the cabin?

hi mate

may I ask is yours a manual or auto plse

hello, yes sorry, it's a 2004 2.0 td4 auto.

cheers

no probs , the reason i asked it can be run through the grommet where the clutch pedal should be

there's a nice hole there around an inch in size , if u look under the drivers side dash and look up u will see the hole

there's insulation there but atbthe hole u wil see a small cut out

a very easy and good route , I ran sleeving through there for my spot lights and also will rerun my synergy dashboard lead through there

i sealed mine up to prevent any fume ingress , cold and water

if u put sleeving in can push wires straight through , just seal both ends up when finished but something that is removable for further use

hope that helps

ps im only in kent, if u get really stuck , im only in kent and ur more than welcome to come over to me and will guide u with the full installation of the synergy box and lead and it's settings

brilliant, thanks for the info and for the very kind offer.

I'll definitely bear that in mind if I get stuck when the time comes.

this forum is the nuts.

ur welcome, people have helped me so always nice to pass it on

I struggled a it when I first fitted one and was nice to have the help

have u done the egr bypass by the way as that makes a difference on its own

but don't want to tell u how to suck eggs as I do t know what mechanical experiance u have with the hippo

if u get stuck please give me a shout and also got a hawkeye

funnily enough, I saw that the original EGR was still on the car, so I ordered a bypass and went to fit it last weekend, took the original off and found that someone had done a DIY job on it so I've put the original back on.

The crankcase breather has been changed too for the BMW part.

plus have u checked ur vacuum hoses for splits

had to just replace all of mine, including the one that runs from the turbo to the vacuum reservoir

new silicone hoses turned up today but going to wait till my synergy box turns up

give us a shout if u get stuck with the synergy , plus what maf have u got fitted a bosch or pierburgh as the setting are different then on the synergy

yeah, checked hoses while I was looking at the erg, I have one dodgy vac pipe that looks to have melted onto one of the coolant pipes, seen that in some other threads too, seems to be fairly common. Got some new stuff coming to replace that.

I've got a new fuel pump and filter on the way too.

I'm probably going to get the synergy and a Pierberg MAF at the same time if all my other tinkering doesn't improve performance as that will be the only other thing I can think of, apart from possibly a dodgy injector but I don't want to even think about that.

ur right it does seem vacuum pipes is one problem

not being rude u did buy a genuine fuel pump

done mine last year , good fun getting behind the inner arch , but once that's out of the way not too bad

dropping the tray with the pump and filter on , also getting the pump out of its holder , used a hammer and tap it out, then I cleaned mine all up and painted the metal bits with hammerite

whilst there check ur rear brake line for any signs of rust

u will notice a difference when fitting a synergy , transforms the engine

oh before I forget u will need the star bits to get the old maf out

I've got a bosch in mine , just finished cleaning all the inlet manifold out, washed out the crankcase, cleaned egr bypass , cleaned and checked map sensor , along with cam sensor

so once the new hoses are on , synergy fitted it should be more responsive again

done all the auto box oil change a little while ago, ird, diff and engine

so that should be it , fingers crossed

finished it off steam cleaning the engine

blimey, you've been busy there.

Hope I've done the right thing getting an OEM pump, Rimmers had 3, a really cheap aftermarket, an OEM and an original...... went for the OEM.

Not looking forward to it too much, some people have a nightmare doing it, others get it done in no time, we shall see.
