Agreed, some things are too cheap but people still buy them and bolt them onto thier prized motors.

Because this day and age not everyone has £200 plus notes to splash out and if people can get a similar item for less then good luck to them as long as they are happy.

Anyway get this thread back on trach shall we..............

Im looking for a bargain myself so if anyone has a synergy 2 going 2nd hand please let me know or Ming if needs be.

Regards

why is it that some people just see the price tag, an not beyond:doh:

Trust me CD is wasn't about the money. I did alot of research on the ProBitz chip and the reviews were all good. I had never heard of the synergy until I joined this forum. The only reason I paid £66 was because I was at the right place at the right time. They normally sell for around £129.

Anyways......... Lets get back on topic

at the end of the day you can sugar coat it all you like, but its cutting corners:doh:, admittedly not everyones got "less" than 200 quid knockin about, but if you do your research properly and actually take note, you'd see the pitfalls, and i for one, would rather wait till i can do it properly, or not bother atall, if i couldnt do it right the first time:D

I mean all the information is on here, whether it be EGR valves or tuning boxes, the good the bad and the ugly, but still people have to question what is on the end of there noses!

but maybe thats the problem with half the posts on here, people trying to mess with stuff they aint really got a clue about in the first place, and then wheres the first place they come running too:doh:

Agreed, I didn't have the £200 at the start either so I did the egr bypass first for £50. A few months later I picked up a bargain mafam off ebay followed closely by a new synergy 1 from Ron. I did plenty of research & could have bought a cheap piece of ebay crap but read too many horror stories on other forums & from ebay feedback re blown ecu's or lots of black smoke etc. The main difference with Ron was that he had proven kit, was contactable & had lots of great reports on here, on the rover forums & from Car Mechanics magazine themselves. That's why I chose to save up & buy a synergy.

hiya,

i think im going to bite the bullit and get a synergy 2 as well, have been thinking about it for a while and after reading comments here and on rons site on the other improvements to be made ie, the egr, pcv valve etc i think it will at least make the engine run abit better and hopefully improve the mpg

will be fun to work out what settings are good or not but i know it comes with full instructions

hope you guys are keeping well

Best thing is to put the setting on maximum & let your right foot do all the regulating. If you drive gently you will get better mpg but & it's a big BUT you probably will find yourself using the extra performance because the car is so underpowered in standard form that you'll find mpg savings to be small or even worse if you really hoof it. Going up steep hills becomes a breeze though & it's well worth the money though don't expect sports car performance. Best of luck & go for it.

Hi, I have got a Synergy 2 for sale. It is only 3 months old and I have just removed it from our Td4 as my wife drives the car most of the time and is not interested in the increased performance. She has just renewed the insurance and they wanted an extra £60 per year which she is not prepared to pay, hence removal, and sale......any offers, they cost about £180 new.
