trying to work out what swivels I have. Watching YouTube Trailer videos suggests one type has filler, level and drain which would have had EP90. This was on early defenders (my one should be as a G ref).
The later ones had one full plug for One Shot grease.

Looking at my swivel, it doesn’t match either...

You can use either. I always used to use the oil, because I thought it would lubricate the top pins better, but the grease is less likely to leak out of your seals are in less than perfect condition.
Main thing is that you have something in there. They don't like running dry.

I guess that was more my point... if I don’t have a fill or level point, how can I check it has something in there?
 
So in my one, I only have a filler/level and no drain?

If that’s the case I guess I just need to open and check there is fluid in there?

Yes. But you do have a drain plug, it is visible in the pics too. On the bottom of the housing, same as usual.

th info in your first post isnt quite correct your swivels are defender pre 300 and have oil level at the front and drain on the bottom tiny square drive plug

Did you have any trouble removing the filler plug? I have the same type of swivel and can't get the filler plug to move at all.

It is in a vulnerable location, so does rust. Give it a good clean with a wire brush (preferably powered either drill or angle grinder) then soak it every day for at least a week with penetrating fluid (not wd40) it should then free up. Then give the threads a smear of heavy grease when refitting.
