**!!!**!!!**!*!*!*!*!* and other German words of desperation !
Long story short, I fitted an SU carb (the kit from ACR) the SIII runs like a dream...
However the Swiss MOT tester failed me on NOISE Emissions!! not liking the K&N air filter ..
and now I have to find a way of fitting the original oil bath filter ..ideas anyone?

I found an adapter from HNG engineering for a HIFF44 SU carb, does anyone know if the air intake side (bolt holes) are likely to be the same?

The pressure differnce is very small so you can mke adaptors and connect it up with intank hose (it has a wire in to stop it collapsing under suction). The most important thing is to have no parts inside that can go in the engine so no nuts and bolts, only screws from outside, duct tape or hose clips. Will a carb intake from a Rover V8 fit?

Yes I thought of using an adapter from a V8 however by the time I get one from the UK and then try and make a fitting it might well be easier to get the 90° bend from HNJ and use an air intake pipe from a diesel as they are long enough..

Try to do what is posted. I’m sure you can buy the oil bath filter which is as designed by LR, but the metal elbow that connects the rubber tube from the filter is unobtainable. You’d have to scavenge one; not easy in Switzerland. eBay uk?

Could you 3-D print something suitable as an adapter/junction piece? Some traders will even help with the CAD part so you get a file the 3-D printer can work from.

Can't you bribe the tester with a Toblerone?

Failing that, UK eBay could be worth scanning.
No Toblerone is nothing special here ...
I have bought the elbow adapter from HNJ Engineering
I have ordered a Diesel air intake pipe as its long enough to reach from the oil bath
All i have to do now is pray ...

My 3.3 Perkins has a K&N filter and it definatly has more induction noise than i would like. I'm thinking of fitting the orginal oil bath to reduce the noise but mine was all removed long before i got it and the battery mount is long gone. Be intersting to do a noise comparison if you get the numbers.

Curious but how do the measure noise and what data are they comparing it too? I know there is nowt you can do about it, just interested.

Welcome to Switzerland where this at the discretion of the tester, He was suspicious anyway if the new carb had increased the BHP beyond the 15% allowed and although his test drive confirmed that (for Him) there was no discernable increase in power
The sound of sucking air through the K&N ( so in a LHD you are sitting right behind the intake) bothered him and so made the order that the original air filter must be put back on.
I have to get this stamped by a garage or represent for inspection with them.

I could take up an official argument against his decision, however if were to lose then I have to pay His time and costs ...
