Can anyone help identify what make of spare wheel carrier this is so i can source some fitting instructions. Told it's for a defender, but no fitting instructions, so want to find out before I start drilling holes !
the bottom mounting holes almost always fit into the grab handle hole on the rear crossmember. locate them and the rest becomes obvious. Have you got the backing plate for the door. that sits in the same place that the spare wheel mounting plate fits if you have a LR rear wheel carrier on the back door.
Looks similar to mine, which is now in the shed. I will probably have the receipt in my file of massive Landy spend I'll try to remember to go in shed and check.
As Pikey says, there is a plate that goes in the middle of the door for the carrier to bolt on to through the ali skin. Also, I think on mine there is a plate for the upper mount - I'll check. The lower mount fixes to the rear cross member.
Find attached pics of the plates I have and 2 templates of the top and bottom fixings . can only marrie up 2 holes in the cross member with the bottom bracket. Also the plate on the back door, the 4 holes are off set to one side. Are they the right way round? Small plate I presume goes inside the door
