Guys
I want to swap the instrument cluster on the '99 for one off an earlier model. I just want to make sure that the mileage is stored in the becm and not the actual cluster so I keep the proper mileage. Anyone know the answer?

Thanks again

JT

The mileage is stored both in cluster and BeCM. The lower of the two gets eliminated and overwritten with the higher one.

Yes, If the cluster has the higher mileage then the becm will update that higher value immediately. If the becm mileage is higher than the cluster then an ODO meter error will flash up warning you.

Well that is a pure bummer. The one I wanted to fit (with the walnut finish) has 30k more miles on it. Glad I asked the question as I hadn't thought of that permutation.

it can be done by magic and eprom trick-it has been discussed before-failing that swap the electrical side of it over

If I'm going from Km to miles, what gets displayed? Any ideas, I really only want a mph speedo, the odo doesn't bother me

I just swapped the cluster on my car which is a jap import and only had KPH on dial and odo counted in km's

Replaced with a uk dash and everything speedo/fuel comp now displays in MPH / MPG. The odo reads 186k though which was obviously what the doner car had done 80k higher then my car.

Or the BECM is still set to Kilometers. Odometer readings can be changed to match BECM i think give Emmotts a ring.
