Out of all the RR I have drove the V8, was just the best. Gas guzzler, but the bass note from a V8 is the business.
Even reving the beast at stand still and watching the way the vehicle rocked from side to side was sweet.

There must be something wrong with my 4.0 V8! I can hardly hear the damn thing when I rev it!! Mind you I was used to a 3.9 V8 Disco that had a lovely rip to it.
Is there a recommended after market exhaust that will let the RR Rrrrrip!
(Quite like the look of the quad back systems but don't know what they sound like!)

The 0.6 litres aren't missing. As far as I know they were never there in the first place!! I'd have had the 4.6 if the right one had come along, but couldn't resist my 2001 RR Westminster with FSH, years MOT and Tax for £6K.

well yes, i guess so! but i've got to drive to czech in march, and thats 1000 miles each way, and that would cost me about £600 in petrol, but i get diesel free from work! i was thinking of buying an old volvo estate and taking that instead! but would rather just get a diesel rangie..

Hmmm, fuel prices, speed cameras, residual values, ect would suggest otherwise. I'm afraid that the V8 is nothing more than expensive toy for most us us mere mortals, even our cousins on the other side of the Atlantic are beginning to see the light.

I dunno, petrol is cheeper per ltr. The mpg on the diesels is not massivley better, and they can just about go fast enough to get flashed. I recon that you would have to do quite a bit more miles per year to make the diesel argument stand strong. ..Curlys arguement that he gets free fuel from work is the obvious reason for him to get one, but how much would that same trip cost in diesel??....

Go and sit by the side of a busy main road, count the number of diesels you see go by, now compare that to the petrols, and how many of them are V8's?
The public have voted, the V8 is a dinosaur!!!
Sit by the side of the road and count the P38's that go by, the V8's would out number the oil burners 5 to 1.(admitedly more new one's were built) Contract Hired a Jeep 5.7 Hemi for a year (11 mpg), my 2000 vogue is economical in comparison (16 mpg). My mates new TDV6 disco 3 only averages 22 mpg. Factor in cheaper cost of petrol, not a lot in it unless you do space ship mileage. Test drove P38 Diesel, got a bit scared when HGV nearly totalled me at junction 17 M25, only trouble was he was goin past junction 16 when I turned on the slip road

LOL Dillon, ...I think that both petrol and diesels are not without fault, and both have there fans, If cost of ownership, mpg's etc are an issue then anything built by Landrover may not be the best choice. For me its the fun factor, and the V8 provides that little extra. Most cars on the roads are not 4x4, does that mean we are all wrong??

Over here in Ireland, the diesel P38's far outnumber the V8's. I had a DSE and currently am running a 4.6 LPG. Love the V8...damn expensive to run thats why its my weekend toy

Diesel P38's far outnumber the petrol ones round here as well.
I think people who have the petrol ones only come out at the weekends round here as you do seem to see more 4.0/4.6's around on saturdays and sundays.
Then again petrol and diesel round here seems to be the most expensive anywhere!

On the continent were diesel is rightly still cheaper than petrol its rare to see a petrol Range Rover, and if I run short of diesel I've got 30+ olive trees in my garden.
