Hi there. Anyone willing and able to help a damsel in distress? My landy has a couple of persistent problems which the local dealership have attempted to fix before only for the problems to re-appear. I don't believe that they ever check the most basic things, trouble is, I don't know how to do that either...
It is a 1998 Defender TD5 110 CSW:
1. The ABS/TC lights are stuck on. This happened a couple of years ago, the local garage said it was the ABS tracking valve and fitted a new one at great expense. The problem has come back and I wonder if it might be something simpler like a dirty sensor?
2. It failed it's MOT last summer on emissions due to 'excessive black smoke under load'. They gave it a new intercooler, but it still coughed and spluttered a bit even after passing the MOT. All of a sudden it's gotten worse to the point of being embarrassing. Definitely won't pass an MOT in its current state.
If anyone is willing to come round and have a look at it I would be so grateful and will pay you for the trouble. Also there will be cakes.
