Hi all,
I'm looking at a possible swap for this on ebay (270295435868) for my Merc Coupe, I'm very temted as it looks pretty good & has everything i'm looking for, can anyone tell me what's involved in the suspension repair?
Is it a case of the car being off the road for a long time etc, i'm willing to pay the £500 mentioned to get it fixed.

Thanks for any input & advice.

Colin

Depends what the problem with it is, could be split airbags or faulty compressor or electrics.

Till we know the problem its hard to say.

It looks ok, wonder why its needed a full respray though, I wouldn't go much over 4500 for it though, there are plenty out there.

Yes I am going to ask that too, I was looking for a petrol model but not too fussed as long as it can pull the beast.
Cheers

All of the following IMHO .... but ....

(a) The RR looks way overpriced at £6800 - £7000.
(b) The respray adds nothing to the value, I would expect decent paint on a RR of that age, in fact I'd be more worried as to why it had to be resprayed.
(c) 154k is a lot of miles, especially without a FSH. I wouldn't touch a P38 with a barge pole unless it had a FSH or was as cheap as chips.
(d) S-Reg is not 99/00, mine is V reg and that is 99/00, S is 98/99.
(e) Don't personally like 22" alloys on a P38 as the tiny tyre sidewalls make the ride too harsh so I'll skip commenting on them.
(f) Not sure what T4 PAK is worth, but if the seller believes it's worth £1800, I'd get him to knock £1400 off the price and let him keep it on retention.
(g) Is the single headlamp guard look in now ?

So, there you go ....... I'd value this as-is (minus reg) at somewhere around the current eBay start price (£3600). I'd value the reg at no more than £500 so maybe this is worth £4k as-is ......

Of course, I could be way off on everything !

With an unidentified EAS fault TBH I wouldn't go anywhere near it at that price. Most of the EAS system is easy enough to work on if you're reasonable at spannering but if your going to let the dealers sort it then it's going to cost you a fortune.
To give you an idea I considered selling mine a while back 1997 4.6 133K, service history much better spec, top of the range lpg system, drop down video screen, playstation, Factory sat-nav etc and was asking 2k for it, at the moment it's off the road again due to a burnt out fusebox (common) and a knackered battery, cost of these items around £250 but if I was to sell it as is I would be looking at £1100.
Oh yes and the respray would be enough for me to walk away.

I thought it was a bit odd that it had a dip stick for the autobox, reason is its a 1998 my car - WA chassis. So it may have been first regd in 99,but it was built Aug 1st 97 - to Jul 31st 98. Which is important cos they were upgraded for the 99my.
I wouldnt touch it at 1/2 the money.

Steer well clear. Full re-spray and bills for £700 but didnt get the air done ? Millage is high and well overpriced - and it has silly wheels.
Sorry to be negative but there are a lot better ones about with less millage and better history for less money ( and standard wheels ).
Oh and its diesel............

OK guys,
First thing first - it's a no go
Second - it's a no go, you've all just brought home what I was thinking & talked me out of it but hey that's what the Forums are all about.

Thanks very much for the advice I'll just hang on & see how much he gets for it on ebay.
